Midwest Section Outstanding Teaching Award:

The award consists of a $750 to $1000 honorarium and certificate of recognition to an individual whose activities indicate outstanding contributions to engineering and/or technology education.  Additional criteria used to judge the nominees for this award are listed on the ASEE national webpage   (http://www.asee.org/member-resources/awards/full-list-of-awards).  This award is jointly sponsored by the Deans of the Midwest Section.  The winner becomes the nominee of the Section for the ASEE National Outstanding Teaching Medal for the following year.

Nomination Format for Teaching Award:

Any member of the section may nominate candidates for the Outstanding Teaching Award.  Each school may forward one nominee for the Outstanding Teaching Award.  The nomination package should include a letter of support from the dean or his/her designee.  Up to a three-page vita and no more than eleven additional pages of information, (including support letters), make up each school’s nomination package.   Supporting letters from colleagues and current and past students are recommended but not required.  The nomination package must be sent electronically to the Midwest Section Awards Chair (see above) by June 1, 2012.  Late nominations or nominations exceeding page limits will not be considered.  Award winners are required to attend the September ASEE Midwest Section Conference.  Nominees do not have to be ASEE members but, in a close contest, the award will go to the ASEE member.

Midwest Section Best Paper Awards:

The best engineering education papers published and presented at the annual ASEE Midwest Section Conference will be selected. Each year three awards are given in the amounts of $300, $200, and $100 to the first, second, and third place papers, respectively. Certificates of recognition are also presented to the authors of the selected papers. In the case of co-authors, individual certificates will be presented and the honorarium will be split among the co-authors. Award presentations are made at the business luncheon at the annual ASEE Midwest Section Conference.

Consideration for Best Paper Awards:

No nomination is required. To be eligible, full papers must be accepted for publication and presented at the annual ASEE Midwest Section Conference. Selection will be based on the quality of the written paper and the quality of the oral presentation and the relevance of the paper to engineering education. The Technical Program Chair will coordinate the selection process.
